ABOUT US
Considering a career in the medical field?
From a Cardiovascular unit to a unit on neurology, our club provides students with information to develop a strong base in multiple specialties in medicine.
We are a club of high schoolers interested in pursuing careers in the medical field. We seek to educate others about this interest and break down the stigma of careers in the medical field as unattainable.
The purpose of this club is to give medicine-bound students exposure to the medical field through various lectures by physicians, researchers, and pre-med focused colleges, visits to different medical facilities, volunteering at hospitals, and activities that raise awareness about health care problems around the world.

In light of the events brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic, numerous health disparities have been uncovered. One such disparity is the shortage of physicians, with the Association of American Medical Colleges estimating a deficit of 124 thousand physicians by the year 2034 (Renfrow 2021).
Another disparity is the bleak absence of diversity among the physician population in America. The majority of all acting physicians are white males which may also contribute to the disparity in healthcare among minority ethnic groups.
We believe that all people, regardless of race, gender, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation, should have a chance at pursuing a medical career.
We believe that all students who are interested or would like to know more about the medical field should have a place to learn, explore, and develop this interest in the supportive environment that we offer.
We the members of the Future Practicing Physicians Network, seek to heighten the level of awareness concerning global health policy and ongoing medical research.
By doing so, individuals entering the health field will not only be physicians, but also knowledgeable politicians and researchers with a medical standpoint. We wish to establish this constitution for the Homestead High School Future Practicing Physicians Network.
